Garden City Harvest Spring Update
Spring is here and things are starting to pick up in the farm-to-school world! Here are some Garden City Harvest program updates, and ways to get involved in Rattlesnake's School Garden:
Farmer in the Classroom
On April 4th & 6th Farmer Lori returns to Rattlesnake for the final Farmer in the Classroom visit to second grade classrooms. We will play a final review game to test what we’ve learned about Montana Farming topics this year including lessons on food preservation, honey bees, apples, wheat, and cows, and celebrating with a taste of Montana Superbread!
Garden Meeting
On April 6th at 4:00pm, Rattlesnake's Garden Committee will meet for our first spring meeting in the garden (or Ms. Thomas' classroom in case of bad weather). We’ll discuss plans for the 2023 growing season and welcome new ideas. We’re always looking for new voices, so please consider joining us!
School Garden Lessons
Garden City Harvest Farmer-Educators teach two sets of lessons in Rattlesnake's School Garden each spring and fall. In the spring, Kindergartners and 3rd graders visit the garden for composting and planting lessons and return as 1st graders and 4th graders in the fall to harvest veggies and put the garden to bed.
Rattlesnake Garden Lesson Dates
Composting Lessons- May 3rd and 4th
Planting Lessons- May 24th and 25th
